The Curriculum Is the Cache

JD (Jean Delphonse) · September 14, 2026

Field notes on Layer 3 — why a course built once is the highest-leverage thing a Simulation ever produces.

Marcus Bell could architect a data pipeline in his sleep. Teaching one to a stranger was a different skill — and his Simulation caught the gap before a single learner did.

That's the job of the Course Curriculum agent, the hub of Layer 3: the sales page sells what it builds, the launch launches it, the affiliate program distributes it. Get it right and everything downstream lifts; get it wrong and everything downstream strains.

The catch. Knowing a domain deeply doesn't tell you what a novice needs first, or where they get stuck. Marcus had forgotten what it was like not to know.

What the Simulation ran forward. Two orderings of the same material — expertise-order (how Marcus thinks) versus learning-order (how a novice absorbs) — projected against completion, satisfaction, refunds, and repeat purchase. Learning-order won on every metric.

The real fork: scope. A comprehensive course (high value, high abandon risk) or a focused one (narrower promise, higher completion). The Simulation favored focus — one outcome delivered beats ten promised and none reached.

Where it landed. Marcus built one course on the single pipeline pattern he was known for. In 24 months it became the productized core of his business, sold repeatedly at near-zero marginal cost.

The lens: Caching. Compute the teaching once, in learning-order, and serve it to every future learner without re-teaching live. The one-time cost is repaid on every sale after.

Your turn. Is what you'd teach ordered the way you think, or the way a beginner learns? Run a Simulation to find out.
